On 26 May 2026, a delegation from the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences (SASS), led by Party Secretary Yuan Hongying, visited the Victorian Shandong Association in Australia.

The delegation was warmly received by Chen Guangbao, President of the Victorian Shandong Association, and representatives of the association. The two sides held friendly discussions on Shandong–Australia exchange, cultural promotion, think tank cooperation, and other related topics.

During the exchange, President Chen Guangbao introduced the development of the Victorian Shandong Association, as well as its work and achievements in bringing together the Shandong community, promoting economic and trade cooperation, and advancing cultural exchange between China and Australia in recent years.

He noted that the Victorian Shandong Association has always played an active role as a bridge, and remains committed to strengthening communication between Shandong and Australia, building platforms and creating opportunities for Shandong–Australia cooperation.

Yuan Hongying then shared the work achievements and practical experience of the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences in areas such as philosophy and social sciences research, theoretical studies, and social development research.

She expressed the hope that communication and interaction with overseas Chinese associations and social organisations would be further strengthened in the future, so as to promote mutual support between academic research and people-to-people exchange, and contribute more wisdom and strength to deepening friendly exchanges between Shandong and Australia.

During the discussion, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including the development of overseas Chinese communities, cultural promotion, resource sharing, and cooperation between Shandong and Australia. They also exchanged views on strengthening future ties and expanding opportunities for collaboration.

As a leading research institution in the field of philosophy and social sciences in Shandong Province, the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences has developed extensive expertise and a strong academic foundation in areas such as theoretical research and social development studies.

During the visit, the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences presented a selection of Shandong’s intangible cultural heritage (ICH) gifts to the Victorian Shandong Association as a gesture of friendship and goodwill, and to express its expectations for future cooperation.

These gifts not only showcased the unique cultural heritage of Shandong, but also symbolised the growing mutual trust and deepening ties between the two sides.

This visit further strengthened communication and connections between the Shandong Academy of Social Sciences and the Victorian Shandong Association.

Both sides agreed that this exchange would serve as a valuable opportunity to deepen future engagement, leverage their respective strengths, and work together to achieve more positive outcomes in exchanges and cooperation between Shandong and Australia.
