Introduction to Shandong Association

The Victoria Shandong Fellowship Association was formed by overseas Qilu people in Australia for the purpose of "establishing the image of Shandong, promoting Qilu culture, uniting overseas compatriots, and achieving win-win cooperation". It was established in February 2024 with the strong support of Shandong compatriots, relevant social departments, and enthusiastic people from all walks of life.

Shandong Association Volunteer Appreciation Day

On 5 July, the Shandong Association successfully held its Volunteer Appreciation Day and Free Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation. With the theme “Thank You for Being with Us,” the event expressed sincere appreciation to the volunteers who have supported the Association over the years, while also providing an opportunity for the Shandong community in Australia to connect and support one another.

At the beginning of the event, several volunteer representatives shared their experiences and reflections. They spoke about memorable moments from their involvement in the Association’s activities and expressed their appreciation for the community. Behind every event are volunteers who generously contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm. Their continued support plays an important role in making the Association’s programs and activities possible.

The event also included a volunteer recognition ceremony, honouring those who have generously contributed their time and effort to the Association over the years. The awards recognised their valuable contributions and expressed appreciation for their continued involvement in the community.

In his remarks, the President of the Shandong Association highlighted the important role volunteers play in the Association’s development. From event preparation and on-site support to communications and community services, every contribution helps make the Association a stronger and more welcoming community.

Looking ahead, the Association will continue to bring together the Shandong community in Australia and provide a platform for mutual support, resource sharing and stronger connections.

During the event, Dr Zong shared practical insights into traditional Chinese medicine and offered helpful advice on maintaining health and wellbeing in everyday life.

The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere gave participants an opportunity to learn more about healthy living while also experiencing the care and support of the Shandong Association community.

Zhanny from Huitong Finance also attended the event and expressed appreciation for the dedication and ongoing contributions of the Shandong Association’s volunteers. Huitong Finance also generously sponsored a special gift for the event, adding an extra touch of warmth and appreciation to the occasion.

The event continued with a lunch in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, where old friends caught up and new friendships were formed. Familiar accents and friendly conversations created a welcoming sense of home and community.

After lunch, guests enjoyed a traditional Lüju Opera performance. The familiar melodies and distinctive Shandong cultural elements brought a special sense of connection to home and added a unique cultural touch to the event.
