Strengthening Ties: Shandong Delegation Visits the Shandong Association of Victoria

On the afternoon of 26 July, a delegation from the Shandong Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office held a meeting with the Shandong Association and Chamber of Commerce of Victoria.

Attendees included Chen Guangbao, President of the Association; Zhang Weiguo, Division Director of the Shandong Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Liu Yuetan, Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Shandong University; Gai Ying, Principal of the Primary School Affiliated with Shandong Normal University; Liu Jiaying, teacher at the school; as well as members of the Association’s Executive Committee and Secretariat.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on promoting traditional Chinese culture overseas, strengthening cultural exchanges among young people, and exploring future cooperation.

Participants shared insights from their respective fields on how overseas Chinese associations can serve as a bridge between communities, develop new ways to promote Chinese culture, enrich cultural exchange activities, and better share Chinese stories with international audiences.

Both sides agreed that promoting Chinese culture overseas can not only help overseas Chinese communities and younger generations deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, but also provide Australian society with more opportunities to learn about China and experience the richness of Chinese culture.

Looking ahead, traditional culture courses, performances, festival events, study programs and youth exchanges can provide engaging ways to showcase the rich heritage and contemporary value of traditional Chinese culture.

During the meeting, President Chen Guangbao and the delegation also exchanged views on sharing educational and cultural resources, establishing regular communication, and advancing future cooperation projects.

Both sides looked forward to building on this meeting to expand cooperation, strengthen connections, and create a broader platform for promoting and preserving Chinese culture in Australia.

The meeting further strengthened communication and connections between both sides, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in promoting Chinese culture, youth engagement, and cultural exchanges between China and Australia.
